Ke$ha is the Master...

As a 20 something and a teacher who molds student’s brains into computers that will help me gain ultimate power, or at least helps them comprehend Dickens, I have developed a wonderful taste in hobbies and a (secret) obsession with pop music.  The other day I was listening to the radio and a dark realization hit me, a decent argument could be made that the pop star Ke$ha could be the master.

I hear your heart beat to the beat of the drums” Ke$ha starts the song “Die Young” on her 2012 album Warrior. This got me to thinking; you know who else hears the drums? The master always hears four beats. “Here come the drums!” the Master cried in the season 2007 episode “The Sound of Drums”. In the 2007 episode “The Last of the Time Lords” The Master tells the Doctor that “Ever since [he] was a child... [He] looked into the Vortex and that's when it chose me. The Drumming. The Call. To War.” Ke$ha’s latest album is called Warrior. We use warriors to fight our wars. The Master loves nothing more than to war with the Doctor. Interesting, is it not? I wonder if we sit next to Ke$ha and tap out four beats if she would catch on, or maybe start regaling us with tales of the time she broke into Prince’s house. I mean the woman does put out some infectious beats that have a tendency to get stuck in your head.

The human race. Greatest monsters of them all” the Master comments in the 2007 episode “The Last of the Time Lords”. Ke$ha calls her fans animals on twitter. Currently she has over three million followers. Followers are treated to being told how much she misses them, no make up Monday’s, pictures of cats, and a video of a beat boxing goat. Ke$ha’s lyrics herald staying up all night, poor and physical oral hygiene, disrespect of relationship boundaries (infidelity), and drug usage – all things that would make us into monsters worth destroying. Ke$ha celebrates being a bad girl, the Master celebrates being a bad boy. It’s clear he enjoys it. It can be so much fun to be evil. Wouldn’t you like to try it?

We’ve all seen “Vote Saxon” everywhere. We all know that “Together we can master the future”. Did you know that Ke$ha was nominated for the 2013 World Music Award for World's Best Entertainer of the Year and World's Best Female Artist. In 2010 Ke$ha won the title of Best New Artist from Eska Music Awards. Ke$ha reminds us that the “party don’t stop” and it didn’t begin until she walked, in her 2009 song "Tik Tok". Just like the Master, she controls things.

There you have it, my argument for why the pop star Ke$ha might just be the Master. All I know is that I occasionally hear drums. Could they be twin heartbeats? The world may never know.
